Clarence Edward Sumner

Clarence Edward Sumner, 60, of New Bern, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Singleton and his father, Edward Sumner. He is also preceded in death by Horace Anderson. He loved music, whether it was listening to it or making it. He enjoyed being on his computer, and loved spending time with his family. He served honorably and was retired from the United States Army. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret L. Black; step-children, Deon Anderson (Jennifer), Christopher L. Davis, Erica L. Davis, and Latisha A. Lovick; grandchildren, Audrey Truell and Nyasia White; brothers, Bobbie Singleton, Anthony J. Singleton, Michael L. Singleton, Derrick Sumner, Tremayne Wallace, Jerry Sumner, and Edward Sumner; and nephew, Corey Couman. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 20 from 3:30-7:30 PM at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot, where a funeral service will be held the following day at 4 PM. Interment will be private.
