Daniel Arbie Hutchinson

Daniel A. Hutchinson, 75, of Richmond, VA, passed peacefully on January 13th, 2022, due to heart complications. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arbie and Jimmie Hutchinson. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Carolyn Hutchinson, son, Lee Hutchinson, daughter-in-law Rachel Hutchinson, granddaughter Avery Hutchinson, grandson Wyatt Hutchinson, stepson, Andy Aubry, sister, Linda Hutchinson, and niece, Sarah Woolwine. Dan, an Ohio State graduate of Civil Engineering, was born on May 19, 1946 in Wood County, just outside of Toledo, Ohio; where he grew up and attended Lake High School. He was dearly loved by so many from childhood to the present. He had an infectious but humble personality. He relished every moment, big or small, and was always able to connect personally with people. He had a unique way of running below the radar, but accomplishing so much. His family, a fifty-plus-year membership at the Downtown YMCA, and his forty-eight-year career in public service at RRHA were centers of his network, and where he made many lifetime connections and friends. Whether it was making memories with his family, drawing one of his infamous pictures, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, forming a running group, or sowing the seeds for new housing development, he was a master at connecting people for a greater cause, and he loved producing those results. He believed in hard work and dedication to any task, big or small. A celebration of his life will be held later this Spring.
