Delvin was born on April 6th, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to Marvin and Edith Lumpkin.
Delvin loved hard, worked hard and played hard. On January 6th, 1984 Delvin married Linda Joann Ryan and he spent 37 years as a loving, devoted, adventurous husband, father & grandfather. Delvin & Linda met and began building their life together in their hometown of Tulsa, OK moving in 1989 to Richmond, VA. There they raised their family, creating a beautiful home & life together. His love & devotion for this family was unending. When it came to his wife & children they always came first. He loved his work & was blessed to work alongside all his children. Spending most all his time with his kids both at work & at play. He adored playing with his 6 grandkids as well. Teaching yet another generation of Lumpkin’s how to have fun and love life. His work ethic and drive were incredible.
Delvin was the Owner/Operator of Central Concrete, Inc. of Midlothian, VA. He loved and took great pride in building a business that sustained himself, Linda, all his children & their families and eventually would employ 50+ employees. He was able to take comfort in the fact that he built a business that will provide for his family long after he was gone. He loved to have fun! He loved Life!! Whether it was Gambling at the Casino (he loved it and was pretty darn skilled/lucky!), golfing with his buddies, riding motorcycles or 4 wheelers, skiing, fishing, camping, boating, you name it, he loved it. He was always up for anything.
Everyone loved Delvin. He was always fun, the life of the party, and he made everything a party. He had such a quick wit & great since of humor (sometimes shockingly inappropriate!) He loved to kid around with humor that would elicit a bit of shock and always a smile, just to see the look on peoples faces. He was kind, giving, always willing to help.
Delvin’s love & laughter will live on in the hearts & memories of his family and friends. Delvin was a unique person, one of a kind. He will be extremely, deeply, overwhelmingly missed.
Delvin was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Leroy Lumpkin; brother, Melvin Jay Lumpkin & infant daughter, Chelsea Shae Lumpkin. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Joann Ryan Lumpkin; his mother, Edith Louise Boyd Lumpkin; four sons, Shaun Delvin (Jaime), Jason Russell, (Sabrina), Ryan Lee(Kailynn) & Logan Ray Lumpkin (Alissa Marie); his daughter Alyssa Dawn Lumpkin; and his six grandchildren, Aisley Rae, Tyler Lane, Kendall Grace, Nolan Anthony, Skylar Blake and Colson Ray Lumpkin.
