Donald Lee Dixon

Don was born on May 11, 1943 in Norfolk, VA to Warner and Lucy Dixon. He received a degree in history from Old Dominion University. On March 27, 1968, Don married Carol McCord in Virginia Beach, VA. The couple moved to Waynesboro, VA where their two sons, Christopher and Carter, were born in 1978, the family relocated to Richmond, VA.

Don served in the US Navy, both active duty and reserves, attaining the rank of Captain. He enjoyed a long career with Virginia Power where he served in numerous roles, retiring as a Senior Purchase Advisor. Following his retirement from Virginia Power, Don continued to apply his expertise for several years as a consultant for Trigon.

In his free time, Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was active in the men’s group at St. Mathias Episcopal Church, an investment group and a cards group.

Don will be remembered for his dry wit, his inquisitive nature and his love of reading.

Don is survived by his wife, Carol, their sons Christopher and Carter and their wives, Susan and Allison, respectively. He is also survived by his grandchildren Timothy, Caroline, Holland, Mac and Elizabeth.

Services will be held at St. Mathias Episcopal Church on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
