Obituary of Donald Porter Malkemus Sr.
We would like to celebrate the long and prosperous life of Donald P. Malkemus Sr, 84, of Powhatan, Va. He was the widower of his best friend, Suzanne T. Malkemus. They shared 60 fruitful years together. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of George and May Malkemus. He attended and graduated from St. Paul’s Boys School in Baltimore in 1952, following he attended The University of Maryland College Park where he graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture. He was the proud and retired owner of Partner’s Landscaping and Tree Service. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Powhatan. Papa will be remembered most for the immense love he had for his close family. HIs constant positive outlook on life will be greatly missed. To his 5 Children, he was known as Dad and they could always count on him in times of need. To his grand-children and great grand-children he was known as Papa and his lessons on life will always be cherished. He was a joker and always knew how to lighten up any hard situation that was getting you down. His countless nicknames and funny phrases will forever be remembered and passed on. “Which way did they go?” The answer is “both ways” so “Don’t take any wooden nickels!” He is survived by his 4 children; Suzanne, Elizabeth, Douglas, and Mary Catharine , 13 grand children, 13 great grand children, as well as his beloved cat Mr. James “Tedderz”.
