Having known Donna for more than half my life, I can honestly say she is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She always had a smile on her first at family get togethers and kind words to say to everyone. I'm thankful that Donna was 1/4 of the grandparents to my niece and nephew, and helped instill such positive attributes in them.  Thank you, John, for joining our family and, thus, bringing your parents into our family. Our family is a bit dimmer now due to the loss of such a bright light.

Alan and I first met Rodney and Donna, sitting on an old "casting" couch in Meredith House dormitory in those first years when VCU was  a cross between Southern Victorian, Bohemian and the future. We often found them holding hands, smiling at one another, not afraid to show affection with kisses to the cheek.  Our conversations were  interesting, always with touches of good old humor!  Donna and Rodney attended our wedding in March 1975, we attended their mountain chapel wedding in June 1975.  We loved Donna's long brown hair, her bright eyes, smile and laugh.  She was loved, she gave love to many - especially to Rodney, to her son, daughter-in-law and her precious twin grandchildren.  Her life was was pure sunshine, though we missed a lot of it from early 1980s until a few years ago, when I found  Donna on the Internet - working as a teacher!!   Our re connection was wonderful, just too short.
Rodney,  we remain your friends forever.  We miss Donna and feel your tears.  Keep the faith and stay in touch.
 

The first time I interacted with Donna was right after I was awarded the position as Rodney's Office Associate.  Donna came to m y workstation and welcomed me to Gifted Programs.  She was definitely a team player and believed in supporting her family endeavors.

I know you miss her, but more importantly, remember you were blessed to have had her in your lives.  All that she meant to you was a gift to always treasure in your hearts.

In thoughts and prayers.

I knew  and worked with Donna for many years. She and Rodney were always together, always laughing and working together to make sure that every learning experience for every child was a great one. Rodney, I am so sorry. I will be thinking of you and your family. Take care of each other and cherish each other every day.

I grew up with Donna's son, John, one of my closest friends both in adolescence and into adulthood. I can't count the hours spent in their home over those years. Even though we were loud, rowdy, immature teenage boys, Donna was always the most welcoming, funny, and wonderful woman, treating all of us kids as her own. In the decades since, it was always a joy to run into her, always with a smile on her face, especially once she and Rodney welcomed their beautiful grandchildren into their lives. She'll be greatly missed, and my sincerest sympathies to her family.
