Eleanor Merritt Jordan

JORDAN, Eleanor Merritt, of Richmond, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, January 9, 2014. She was the daughter of Carl and Eleanor Merritt, and was born on January 15, 1931 in Chapel Hill, N.C. A Tarheel for life, she was the youngest of five and was preceded in death by her sister and three brothers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Samuel C Jordan. Survivors include her three children, Sammy (Elizabeth), Rachel, and Ruth (Jim); and six grandchildren, Sarah (Jason), Cal, Emily, Rebecca, Kacee, and Ellie. She was a fiercely devoted wife, mother and grandmother, committing endless love and support to her family and her church of 49 years. She will be greatly missed.

Eleanor rests at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, where her family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 9600 Midlothian Turnpike.
