Obituary of Eric Hampton Hunter Jr.
Eric Hampton Hunter, Jr. departed this life on Sunday, April 21, 2024. He was born in Tacoma, WA on August 25, 1989, where his father was stationed at Fort Lewis. During his early years, Eric resided at Army bases in Fort Carson, CO and Fort Stewart, GA. The family settled in Massillon, OH where he attended grades 5-10. His naturally curious manner and bright smile made him a favorite in the neighborhood. From a young age, Eric loved being a part of family get-togethers in Virginia and Maryland. Family members would marvel at how the 7-year-old who lived in Ohio could remember short driving directions from one house to the store and back in Richmond. Whenever he heard someone pick up car keys, he asked “Can I come with you?” It was difficult to say no to that smile. In 2005, the family moved to Midlothian, VA where Eric entered the 11th grade at Clover Hill High School. After graduation, Eric worked at various jobs, but he seemed to gravitate towards working with his hands. His most recent employment was with Plumbright Plumbing. Here in Virginia, Eric became an unapologetic fan of the Washington Redskins/Commanders. While he always enjoyed the outdoors, Virginia Beach opened up another world to Eric: water sports. Eric developed an appreciation for music at an early age. Color coordinating sneakers with his clothes was a skill inherited from his dad, except Eric Jr. had a more extensive collection of sneakers. Eric loved his family and was known for his engaging smile and enveloping hugs. He is survived by his parents, Eric and Monica, who raised him with unconditional love and support, his older brother LaDrekus (Charday), and nephews LaDrekus II, Adonis and niece, Andrielle, Grandmother Estelle “NeNe” Hunter, special friend Alexis Vasquez and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mattie and Louis Parker, grandfather Nathaniel Hunter, Uncle Chuck Davis, Aunt LaShonda Parker and Cousin Keiosha Parker. Acknowledgements: The family of Eric Hunter Jr. extends an abundance of gratitude and sincere thanks for the prayers, acts of kindness and love shown during our time of bereavement. May God continue to richly bless you all. Entrustment of Arrangements: Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road Midlothian, VA 23113
