Obituary of Evelyn Mae Jones
Evelyn Morris Jones, 88, died on October 13, 2018 at Sunrise at BonAir, surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her husband William M. Jones of 65 years. Evelyn is survived by her 2 daughters, Terri Fairbanks, (Guy) of Centreville,Va and Karen Pauley, ( Ray ) of Richmond ,Va who will miss her so much. She loved her Grandchildren, Brad Fairbanks, (Shannon), Lauren BeCraft, (Jonathan) Jonathan Fairbanks, Kelli Perkins (Matthew) and Benjamin Fairbanks. She adored her 4 great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She enjoyed being an aunt to many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was born in Hazy, West Virginia on November 9,1929 and spent her childhood living in a coal mining camp and on a farm. She had 6 brothers and sisters, Lucille, Betty, Phyllis, Frank, Bill and Wanda. She graduated from high school and went to beauty school in Charleston South Carolina. She met Bill Jones, a navy man, on a blind date and that was the start of a wonderful life. They traveled many places and lived in Lisbon, Portugal. She was a wonderful Navy wife and supported her husband throughout his naval career. She lived in Vienna Virginia for 54 years where she was a good neighbor and friend. Evelyn was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet. She was very creative and could do anything with a needle. She often made her daughter's prom dresses and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She enjoyed sharing her handmade crafts at craft shows. Evelyn's special gift was her understanding and love for others. She was always ready to listen to a friend in need or to mend a broken heart. She was often known as the sweetest, most kind person one could ever know. Her compassion for others was amazing and she was loved by many.
