

Evelyn Caroline Bowlin Lowery, 91, of Powhatan, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, in Midlothian Virginia. Evelyn was born on January 11, 1935, in Amelia, Virginia to the late Clifford Faxton Bowlin and Rachel Ashman Bowlin. One of six children, Evelyn was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, sister and friend.
Evelyn enjoyed sports growing up and played basketball and softball at Amelia High School where she graduated. She then attended Longwood College (now University) and obtained an Associate Secretarial License. She even worked at the beautiful brick Railway Station in Richmond after finishing her two-year program. Evelyn married Harold Davis Lowery on April 16, 1955, at Mattoax Presbyterian Church in Amelia, Virginia where her family worshipped during her years growing up. They made their home in Midlothian, and later Powhatan, Virginia. Evelyn enjoyed raising her children, gardening, golf, choir, cooking and being with family and friends. As her children got older, she was able to obtain her Real Estate License and became an agent.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Davis Lowery, parents Cliford and Rachel Bowlin, siblings Samuel W Bowlin, Mary Alice Bowlin, and her beloved daughter, Nancy Lowery Siems. Evelyn is survived by her children, Melanie Dalton (David),
Vanessa Jones (Mark), Russell Lowery (Stephanie); grandchildren, Candice Mrazik (Jeff), Julie Elmore (Andrew), Heather Newmyer (Brandon), Connor and Colton Jones, Mckenzi Watkins Rowe (Trey), siblings, Bruce Bowlin (Betty), Annie Mae Reyna (Don), and Nancy
Coffman, and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A visitation will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 9th, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM, with a reception following the service. The address is: Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Midlothian, Virginia 23113.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Pine Grove cemetery, Amelia Courthouse, Amelia, Virginia 23002. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mattoax Presbyterian Church, 14600 Chula Rd. Amelia Virginia 23002, or the Alzheimer's Association.
