Francis Arthur Going Jr.

Francis (Fran) was born in Hoboken, New Jersey to Francis A. Going, Sr. and Catherine Talty Going on June 16, 1934. He graduated from Rutger’s University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. While there, he also played baseball and basketball for the Rutger’s Scarlet Knights. In addition, he was inducted into “Who’s Who,” the Cap & Skull Society, as well as Beta Theta Phi fraternity. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves and served as a Pilot, otherwise known as “Jet Jockey” in the 756th aircraft control and warning squadron, retiring as Captain. He was united in marriage to Patricia A. Conner, the love of his life.

He started his career working for Proctor & Gamble as a Sales Representative and gained roles with increasing responsibility through multiple organizations ultimately leading large sales and marketing teams as President. He was also involved in youth baseball for many years and was a long-time member of the Lions Club.

Fran is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Going, his son Michael J. Going, his mother Catherine, his father Francis, his brother Richard and Christine’s husband, Christopher Larsen.

He is survived by his daughters Nancy Loudy, and Christine Larsen. Nancy (Keith) and their three children, Kevin (Carrie), Elizabeth (Christian), Colin (Julia), Christine and her two children Austin Vogel, and Abby Vogel and his daughter-in-law Nancy Kay Going and her two children Kate and Conner (Michele). Fran was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Arden, Patrick, Reid, and “Frankie.” He is best known for his love of New York Yankee baseball (including all statistics), insatiable sweet tooth, cars and their maintenance, and his prowess with numbers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be given to The Veterans Administration, Rutgers Alumni Association, or your local Little League baseball association.
