Gordon Leonard Price, Jr, 76, of Midlothian, VA died August 1, 2018, at home in his sleep after a valiant battle with ALS. He was preceded in death by his parents: the Reverend Gordon Leonard Price and Irma Eubank Price of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Gordon is survived by Anne Neville Price, his wife of 52 years; his children Susan Neville Price, Gordon Leonard Price III (Trey), Catherine Price Newman and husband Greg all of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren Grant and Leah Newman; sister Mary Price McChesney and husband Bryan; nephews Bryan McChesney and wife Beth, Gregory McChesney and wife Anna, Alec Lewis and Stephen Lewis; brother-in-law Ben Holland Neville, Jr; sister-in-law Elizabeth Neville Fonville and husband Gene.
Gordon graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School and the University of Richmond (’65). He taught in Chesterfield County Public Schools. He retired from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield after 32 years of service.
He was a member of Huguenot Road Baptist Church, The Jamestown Society, Order of Founders and Patriots, Order of the Ancient Planters and The Spider Club.
His friends and family will remember his wry humor and steadfast loyalty to those he loved and respected. As an avid sports fan, Gordon supported his Richmond Spiders, cheered for the UNC Tar Heels, enjoyed fishing, played golf and exercised/socialized with buddies at ACAC. His knowledge of history and curiosity enriched his travels with Anne. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
The family will receive friends at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, VA (804)794-1000 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Friday, August 10th, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 11, 2018 with a reception to follow at Huguenot Road Baptist Church, 10525 Huguenot Rd, Richmond, VA 23235. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Hollywood Cemetary in Richmond, VA.
