She was born in Maryland on April 4, 1948. Gwen is survived by two sons, Jon O’Dette and Jeremy O’Dette; daughters-in-law Kristine O’Dette and Melinda O’Dette; four grandchildren, Jacob, Elliot, Evelyn, and Emerson O'Dette; sister, Gail Taylor; nephew, Michael Taylor; and brother Glenn Mountney.
She spent her life dedicated to educating children, with a special fondness for the ones in difficult situations. She enjoyed reading books, attending music concerts, and traveling. Family was the most important thing to her, and she adored her grandchildren.
A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held.
In lieu of flowers, an act of kindness can be performed in Gwen’s memory. Contributions can be made to the Henrico Humane Society.
