

He was born on June 9th,1940 toward the end of the Great Depression to Virgie Brooking and Harvey Douglas Woodson in Richmond, Virginia. He was married to his loving spouse, Shirley Marie Williams, for nearly 63 years.
At the age of 19, he joined the Coast Guard reaching the rank of first class petty officer before being honorably discharged in 1968. He took his first job as an industrial electrician in Richmond, Virginia, where he settled down with his spouse and two young sons.
During his career, Harvey worked in several industries, improving his skills along the way until he retired at age 55, following the death of his beloved mother. He and Shirley continued to live in the house they built on Lake Chesdin in Chesterfield County, VA for the remainder of their lives together. He was known as an avid sportsman who loved quail hunting and fishing. In his latter years, he pursued his passion for genealogy, Southern U.S. history, and just puttering around the house.
Harvey was predeceased by his mother, Virgie B. Eure, in 1994 and his father Harvey D. Woodson in 1960. He is survived by his spouse, Shirley W. Woodson; their younger son, Greg Woodson of Rockford, Illinois, along with his spouse, Barbara and their two sons, Eric and Jacob; and their eldest son, Harrell Woodson and his spouse John in Houston, Texas.
The service will start at 12:30pm on Thursday, April 24th. The internment will occur at Greenwood Memorial Gardens at 2:00PM. Harvey is to be buried next to his beloved mother and father. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Chesapeake Bay foundation.
