Haywood Pell Gibbs Sr.

GIBBS, Haywood "Bud" Pell, Sr., 88, left this life to join his wife, Frances. He lost his struggle with COPD Monday, November 8, 2021, in Bon Air, Va., surrounded by family. Born in Bath, N.C. Bud, aka "Grandy," was a father of three children and a grandfather/great-grandfather to 10. Bud was a family man, lover of dogs and a fierce patriot, honorably serving in combat during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

Bud is survived by his daughter, English Hewitt and husband, John, of Bon Air, Va., their two children,

Kaila and Ryder; son, Philip Gibbs and wife, Meri of Greenville, N.C., their five children, JoAnna, Eli, Joshua, John and Mathilde; son, Tom Gibbs and wife, Ann, of Huntersville, N.C., their two children, Mackenzie, Jordan and husband, David and their daughter, Nora. A celebration of his life will take place at Woody Funeral Home 1020 Huguenot Road on Friday. Family will receive visitors at 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. Attendees: Please wear a mask if you are not fully vaccinated.
