

He is survived by his wife, Lenore C. McIntyre and children, Pamela Rasnake (Earl) and Scott McIntyre (Tollen). He is survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Rasnake and Jackson and Finley McIntyre. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Chelsea Ackerman and Rayden Silver.
Sam was always an athletic person and loved music. In junior high school, he played baseball, football, and basketball. He decided not to play football in high school. He was all-state basketball, baseball and band. Immediately after high school, he signed with St. Louis Cardinals baseball team where he played for 4 years. Sam served in the National Guard and his unit was called to duty during the Berlin Crisis. He was Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason in the Masonic Lodge and was also made an honorable Kentucky Colonel. He started college and graduated in 1967 from William and Mary with a major in physics. He worked for Exxon Mobil for 32 years before retiring.
Sam was always deeply spiritual and sang in the choir at St. Marks United Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed playing golf. He collected Esso memorabilia for the years he worked at Esso and after retirement. He enjoyed going to oil and gas shows to collect and share his knowledge and even wrote a book about his collection.
The family will receive friends from 3-5pm on Sunday, May 11th, 2025 at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel. A service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, May 12th, 2025 at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 11551 Lucks Lane, Midlothian, VA 23114.
