Obituary of Jane Sublett Reilly
Jane Sublett Reilly, surrounded by family and loving caregivers, passed away peacefully Sept 14, 2018. The daughter of Richard Thomas and Gillie Wilson Sublett, Jane was born on a farm in rural Charlotte County, Virginia, the sixth of seven children. Born Sept 16, 1934, Jane graduated from Randolph Henry High School, married her High School sweetheart Paul Bradner Walker and moved to Richmond, Virginia where she made her home for 64 years, working 40 of those for Greater Richmond Transit Company, culminating in her position as Executive Assistant to the President. She represented the company well and was active in Executive Women’s International including service as President of the Richmond Chapter. Jane joined Bethel Baptist Church as a child where she, her Dad and sisters traveled around the county singing at different churches. In Richmond, she joined Woodland Heights Baptist, and then Bon Air Baptist Church. If the church doors were open, Jane was there with her children. She enjoyed playing piano and was active in Sunday School and the Prison Ministry as a pianist. Jane’s priorities in life were faith and family. Widowed as a young woman with two young sons, Jane was a wonderful mother with high standards. She was blessed to marry the late Donald Fitzgerald Reilly who showed her the world and taught her to dance. Don, a father of five when they were married, was a great Dad for her two sons and, between them, they added an eighth child. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage and relied on each other greatly, especially in their senior years. Jane was again widowed in 2017 and moved to Atlanta, GA to be close to her sons. Surrounded by the loving staff at Alto Senior Living Buckhead, her last years were happy, engaging and pain free. She was a devoted wife and sister, wise mom and loving mother-in-law and grandma. Humble, supportive, generous and a straight shooter, Jane loved Christ and her family – husband, sisters, children and especially grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands Paul and Don, her brothers Lewis Sublett and Calvin Sublett, her sisters, Katherine Holt, Lois Sublett and Alma Powell, her step-daughter Mary Sharon Reilly, and son Michael Brandon Walker. She is survived by her sister Sadie Jones, sons Brad Walker (Joy) and Donald Reilly Jr. (Vee Vee), daughter-in-law Kim Walker, step-children Jim Reilly (Debbie), Maggie Molnar (Pete), Patrick Reilly (Lynn) and Jamie Stoneburner as well as 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday night Sept 28th at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home 1020 Huguenot Road Midlothian, Virginia from 6PM - 8PM. Services will be at Bon Air Baptist Church 2531 Buford Road, Richmond Saturday Sept 29th at 11AM followed by a reception, and then graveside service at Dale Memorial at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bon Air Baptist Church.
