Jeremy Thomas Williams, 46, died September 29, 2026. Born May 6, 1980, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Jeremy was the youngest child born to Dolores and Gary. He later made his home in Chesterfield, Virginia, where he built a life marked by gentleness, steady kindness, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Jeremy is survived by his beloved wife, Abbie Louise Handford; his mother, Dolores League Campbell; his father, Gary Thomas Williams; his step dad, Winifred Campbell; his step mom, Sue Williams; his big sister, Jenny Riner; his brother-in-law, Thomas Riner; his niece, Lyndsey DeMasi; and his nephew, Thomas Riner.
From an early age, Jeremy’s warm spirit drew people close. He grew up surrounded by friends and spent countless hours riding his bike all over town, even creating bike trails with his friends. As a child, he dreamed of going to Notre Dame, and his love for it never faded; his mother still keeps his treasured Notre Dame jacket hanging on the wall today.
Jeremy attended Jefferson Forest High School and later graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. Jeremy served as class president of his VCU class earning one of the highest G.P.As of his class. He went on to work for Virginia Commonwealth University as a Senior Digital Designer, a role that suited his artistic eye and thoughtful approach.
On May 20, 2016, Jeremy married Abbie Louise Handford. When he proposed, he was very nervous—yet his love was unmistakable. During a trip to England and Wales, he planned the proposal around Abbie’s dream of visiting the Doctor Who Museum. Knowing how much Doctor Who meant to her, he proposed there; so nervous and so sincere that he got down on two knees—and Abbie did too. They were over the moon. Together they built a lovely first home off of Lucks Lane in Chesterfield, and later moved to Belmont Road, where they purchased their dream home with a lovely garden. Jeremy also loved traveling with Abbie, especially to England and St. Lucia.
Jeremy’s heart extended naturally to animals and the living world around him. He was a lover of all animals and nature, and as a Buddhist he believed every creature—even the smallest ant—had a special life and soul. His favorite pet of all time was little Sam, a white Jack Russell. Though Sam passed away some time ago, he remained Jeremy’s cherished little buddy and will always be remembered as Jeremy’s fur baby.
A lifelong lover of the arts, Jeremy enjoyed drawing and creative expression in many forms. He earned two black belts in Karate, played on the Little League baseball team, and played JV football. He also played the piano a little bit. He loved to DJ, collected Star Wars and Snoopy memorabilia, and enjoyed gaming. Jeremy and Abbie shared many happy hours together with games, movies, and shows making everyday moments meaningful by the care and comfort they found in one another.
Jeremy also embraced shared adventures. He, Abbie, and Abbie’s dad Craig participated in a mud run challenge, and he loved trying all sorts of challenges with Abbie and approaching life with a gentle courage and a steady, affectionate presence that made each experience richer for those beside him.
