Joanna Puryear McCorkle

McCORKLE, Joanna Puryear, 36, of Evans, GA, died on August 4, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Gordon McCorkle; her daughter, Sienna Ashland Chandler McCorkle and her three step-children, Bailey, Avery, and Logan McCorkle of Evans, GA; her parents, Jim and Malda Puryear, of Richmond, VA; her sister, Allison Puryear Wixted (Dennis) of Midlothian, VA; nieces Taylor and Karis; and nephew Landon. Joanna graduated Cum Laude from the College of William and Mary with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earned her Doctorate in Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013, 7 to 9 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home (1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, VA 23113) where a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at Salisbury Country Club (13620 Salisbury Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113). Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Westhampton Memorial & Cremation Park (10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, VA 23238).

If you are travelling from out of town and need overnight accommodations, a block of discounted rooms will be held under Joanna’s name until Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at the Sheraton Richmond Park South Hotel (804-323-1144; 9901 Midlothian Tnpk, Richmond, VA 23235). In lieu of flowers or food, please consider a memorial contribution in Joanna’s name to the Richmond Animal League (ral.org) to honor Joanna’s deep love of animals, including her beloved Jack Russell terrier, Julep.
