Johanna Phyllis Esposito, loving sister, mother and grandmother “Nannie”, passed away at the age of 78 on May 10, 2021 in Richmond, VA. Johanna was born on August 31, 1942 in Redhook, NY to Prudence Santapaola and John Esposito. She was the 2nd oldest of 5 brothers and sisters, she was proceeded by the death of her sister Geraldine Malliband, survived by brothers Andrew Esposito Sr “Buddy” and Joel Loomis “Jr Boy” and sister Deborah Loomis; she her two daughters Prudence Purvis (St Peters, MO), Patricia Hill (Midlothian, VA) and son Raymond Purvis Jr (PA); seven grandchildren Krystal Rossetti, Giovanna Morrison, Robert Rossetti Jr, Francelica Lewis, David Flores, Ashley Flores, Dawn Eckliff, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Johanna always surrounded herself by her family and most notably brought light and humor to any room. In her adult life, she made a career out of poker and bingo, and enjoyed playing recreationally and competitively with local leagues. She was a proud Italian American and was most fondly known for her homemade “gravy”.
Visitation and services will be held on Monday, May 17, from 2-4 pm at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel in Midlothian, VA.
