Mr. Dunham was a truly great teacher who connected with each student he encountered.  I remember he made me feel like a special person, and in hindsight, I know that's how he made each of us feel, at Indian River High School and elsewhere in his life.  Thanks for sharing the pictures of his life.  It is a joy to see his family around him and to recognize the love among them.  I especially like the pictures of him at the classroom blackboard.  I can see him stabbing the board with his finger and fervently explaining each point to be certain we all got it.  My condolences to his family for your loss.  May the beautiful memories console you.

Mr. Dunham was the only math teacher I ever had who made me believe that I really could succeed.  Math was so hard for me, but he was always patient and encouraging. He was truly a remarkable teacher and I have never forgotten what he did for me.  My condolences to the Dunham family.

I had Mr. Dunham for Calculus at GBHS.  I still remember his joke about why men wear ties that are clip on.  His homework of 200 problems every weekend made so when I went to college 15 years after high school, I tested straight into Calculus in college.  My condolences to his family.

i was a student in Mr. Dunham's math class at IRH. I had him during mu junior yar..1975..WONDERFUL GREAT TEACHER..He opened my eys to HOW Math workd in our lives..he helped me knock down my "Math Wall", and made it fun and exciting..May God watch over the Dunham family and his wonderful soul...Hauke D Powers..1976 IRH.

I worked alongside John for many years at Great Bridge H.S.  He was always respected by me as a really great teacher who gave his students nothing but the best.  I am sorry to learn of his passing.  I moved to Colorado after my own retirement and am thankful to Carol Gonyo for alerting me to John's death.

A special memory I have of John is this: arriving extra early every school day, he would work in the commons (lunch) area, making himself readily available to help students with any math homework - from algebra to calculus.  That "study-hall" helped so many students.  He taught students to think.

Mr Dunham was my calculus teacher at Great Bridge High School in the 90s. He was tough but challenging. Ended up being a favorite teacher of mine. I used to help him grade homework and he have me a pair of socks and a thank you gift I still have over 20 years later. My thoughts and prayers are with the Dunham family.

Mr. Dunham was my Geometry Teacher at Indian River High School in 1981.  He was so enthusiastic, engaged, and impactful that our class gave him a party on the final day of class.  He made that class worth attending by all.  I will hold your family up in prayer asking GOD to grant you the strength to deal with this difficult time.

John, was my mentor in my high school days at Indian River High School. I will always remember him walking the halls in the morning with his cup of coffee. We would say good morning to each other; Than he would say to me Luane, " Keep your head above sea level today" with a grin on his face!  John, blessed my life by being in my family. He will always have a special place in my heart.  To Margie and the family I love you all so much. May the Lord fill you with grace, peace and comfort at this time.

John was my algebra teacher at Indian River High School back in the '60s. Later,he helped with my youth group at Oaklette UMC. He was a great teacher and example.
