Raised in Seaford, NY, John moved to Virginia after graduating high school. He had a lifelong love of sports, especially cheering on the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills, and enjoyed playing cards, video games, shooting pool, bowling, and gardening. John was also known for his cooking (his spaghetti sauce was the best!) and often took on the role of an “unofficial food critic.” With his quick wit and sense of humor, he was always ready to lighten the mood with a joke. Above all, John had a generous heart, he was always willing to help those in need—and he shared his life with many beloved dogs, most recently his cherished companion, Miss Charlie.
John had a strong Catholic faith and found joy in attending Mass with his wife. He took great pride in his 37-year career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service where he took on leadership roles and stayed active after retirement earning his 50 year membership with the union.
A memorial service to honor John’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Epiphany. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA, in recognition of John’s love for animals.
John will be remembered for his laughter, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of humor, kindness, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
