

Joseph Whitehead Moschler passed away on October 11, 2015 surrounded by his family. Joe was born on August 8, 1924 in Chatham, Virginia. He was the youngest of eight brothers born to the late William and Sue Moschler. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith Paynter Moschler of Clifton Forge, Virginia; sons Joseph W. Moschler, Jr, and Raymond F. Moschler; daughters Mary Judith Longnecker and Sarah M. Walton; eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Joe served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific theater. After his military service, he attended Virginia Tech, graduating in 1949 with a degree in Biology. He worked at the Virginia State Health Department for over 40 years.
Joe was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Midlothian, Virginia serving as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 186. Joe enjoyed fishing, gardening, and history.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 3:00PM at Bethel Baptist Church 1100 Huguenot Springs Rd. Midlothian,VA., and interment following at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
