

Born on February 2, 1944, in Grand Rapids, MI, Karen dedicated her life to others. She touched many as a lifelong teacher and counselor before her retirement from Elizabeth D. Redd Elementary School in Richmond, VA.
Karen was a warm, loving, and caring individual. She was known for her passion for music and her skills as a pianist. She loved to entertain, plan trips for her friends and family, and organize groups, like the Widow and Widowers group. She was a dedicated member of Manakin Episcopal Church in Powhatan, VA, where she also shared her musical talents.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Jay MacDonald and Irene Haake MacDonald; her husband of 39 years, Earle Jerome Coleman; and her husband of 5 years, Charles Frederick Beorn.
Karen is survived by her son and daughter in law, Thomas and Fran Coleman, her daughter and son in law, Sarah and Daniel Renfro, and her two grandchildren, Paige and Nolan Renfro, who will all miss her deeply, along with all those who knew her.
Services to celebrate Karen’s life will be held at Manakin Episcopal Church in Powhatan, VA, on August 23 at 1 pm. Woody's Funeral Home in Midlothian, VA, is assisting the family during this time.
