We met Karen in 2004 when she was my father's hospice nurse. She helped us through a difficult time, and we became friends thereafter. Her brother-in-law, Dave Kibler, just told me of her passing today, March 9th. To her family that she loved so much, please accept our very heartfelt condolences. She gave so much of herself to others and seemed to have boundless energy. We will never forget her, and her kindnesses live on. John and Susan Weigly, Powhatan, VA

Karen was in one of my support groups a few years ago.  I was impressed by her determination to continue living, after her beloved Willie died, in the most meaningful ways.  She reached out to the other group members and offered her home and her heart.  I received a Christmas card from her with a copy of her beautiful painting, and I emailed her to let her know how inspiring she was.  What a shock it was to read her obituary! I wish she could have had more years of retirement; she has been taken much too soon.  The world is poorer without you, Karen.

I worked with Karen at Richmond Eye and Ear hospital. I was 3-11 shift and she was coming on the night shift. She always had a positive attitude and a smile. God bless you all.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Karen and I were in college together, and remained friends afterward.  She was a true friend, and will be missed.

Will never forget Karen's (and Willie's) friendship during our Bon Air Methodist church softball days, and afterwards too, along with their visits to the Outer Banks. when we moved there Karen gave us a wonderful "ocean" painting which will now be deeply cherished along with fond memories of her....and, not to forget her Christmas card paintings and those terrific tasting "Hammy Sammy's" she made, I couldn't stop eating them every time she served 'em !

Karen was always the sparkling personality in our art class.  Her kind, positive and easygoing spirit lifted the mood of everyone she touched.  She will be sorely missed.

Julia, Sarah, and Laura.  There are no words to bring comfort.  Just know that all of you are in my prayers.  Your Mom was a special person to me in our years at Richmond Eye and Ear Hospital.  She will be missed at our gatherings.
