

Kevin was preceded in death by his loving parents, Richard Cunningham Jr. and Joann Cunningham; paternal grandparents, Richard and Matte Cunningham; maternal grandmother, Mary Stephenson; one sister, Linda Britton; six aunts; and two uncles.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise L. Cunningham; daughter, Kierra Cunningham; son, Cedric Cunningham; sister, Marshal Hawkins of Clinton, MS; two aunts, Panzola Gandy and Dorothy Jeffries, both of Chicago, IL; uncle, Ronald Stevenson of Kansas City, MO; a special niece, Cynthia Britton of Milwaukee, WI; Mother-In-Law Elizabeth Franklin of Suffolk VA; and a host of nephews and loving cousins.
Kevin was baptized at the Original Philadelphia Baptist Church of Chicago, IL, under the Pastorship of Rev. Lewis Nance. Kevin remained active within the church for many years, participating in multiple youth ministry programs, serving on the usher board, and singing in the choir.
Kevin graduated from Mendel Catholic High School, where he was a member of the Chess, Debate, and Book Club. He graduated with honors from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1985 (Chicago, IL). During his time at DeVry, he developed lifelong friendships that turned into sisterhood and brotherhood relationships.
Kevin was gainfully employed by Motorola and retired after 25 years of service. Following retirement, he held several IT Project Management positions across the country. Kevin excelled in his career, receiving multiple outstanding leadership and development recognition awards.
Kevin loved the outdoor life. He was an avid camper, and his beloved dog, Amber, accompanied him on every camping trip. He enjoyed fishing, taking antiquing trips, traveling with his wife, and going to the beach. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable about cars and antique firearms.
Kevin had many gifts and talents, one of which was connecting people. He was a mentor, big brother, loving father, supportive husband, and devoted friend. During his final days, Kevin made it a point to bring people together via various media sources (Zoom, text, FaceTime, etc.) to provide inspiration and encouragement and ensure everyone had closure.
Kevin was known to everyone as a "big teddy bear" with a heart of gold. He was wise beyond his years, a prolific historian, a master griller, and a connoisseur of his wife's delicious cooking and baking. He often promoted his wife's Instagram page, "Cookingwithmrsc". He was a respected pillar in the community and positively impacted the lives of everyone he encountered, regardless of age. Kevin's presence will truly be missed. He will live on forever in the minds, hearts, and souls of everyone he encountered.
