FRANKLIN, Layton M., 87, of Richmond, passed away, January 24, 2014. He was born in Bedford, Virginia on April 30, 1926. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Audrey Garland Franklin. He is survived by daughter, Wanda Franklin Packett and her husband, John; son, Steven D. Franklin and his wife, Debra; grandchildren, Sarah E. Packett, Paul D. Franklin, Morgan L. Franklin and Scott M. Franklin.
He was a graduate of the University of Virginia, earned the rank of Lieutenant 1st Class in the United States Army, a Bronze Star recipient during WWII, and was an executive at the Virginia Paper Company from 1956 until 1987.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, immediately following visitation. Reception to follow service. private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Air United Methodist Church.
