Leonard Edward (Len) Dunkum, 68, of Midlothian, VA passed away on March 18, 2018. Born in New York City, to Edward H. (Eddie) and Eloise Harn Dunkum, he is survived by his beloved family- his wife of 27 years Sharon Johnson Dunkum; son Chris White and wife Jill; son Matt Dunkum; daughter Meg Dunkum; brother Rick Dunkum and wife Beth; sister-in-law Cynthia Johnson Stone and husband Dick; brother-in-law Mike Johnson and wife Debbie; mother-in-law- Elizabeth Vaughan Johnson; and grandchildren Chloe and Zander White. Len is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Len was preceded in death by his father-in-law Stanley Wayne Johnson.
Len served his country proudly in the US Army as a Green Beret in Special Forces during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He received an honorable discharge on February 29, 1972, and began a career in construction management as well as retail. Most recently Len worked as a Regional Project Manager at Wells Fargo. He had a passion for water skiing and was a lifetime member of the Virginia Power Boat Association.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 6-8 pm at the Huguenot Chapel Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian Va. A celebration of Len’s life will be held at Woody Funeral Home on Friday, March 23, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Richmond SPCA.
