

CARTER, Lewis Woodrow "Woody" Sr., 90, of Midlothian, Va., departed this life peacefully on December 1, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean P. Carter; two children, Lewis Woodrow (Buddy) Carter Jr. and wife, Linda, Beverley C. Brinkley and her husband, Rusty; four grandchildren, Christopher Shawn Brinkley and wife, Trish, Phillip Carter Brinkley and wife, Heather, Daniel Grant Brinkley and Austin Carter Hyatt and husband, Rob; two great-grandchildren, Logan Carter Brinkley and Alexa Nicole Brinkley; also a sister, Pearl Robinson and husband, Durwood. Woody was a WWII veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He retired as Finance Manager from the USPS in 1980 and was a member of the Manchester Masonic Lodge #14 and Commander of the Acca Shrine Legion of Honor in 1998.
The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 7, at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 18100 Genito Rd., Moseley, Va., with Masonic service prior and interment at church cemetery.
