Linda Lyons Landry, 59, passed away on March 30, 2014 after a courageous battle with GBM brain cancer. She was born to John and Rita Lyons in Buffalo, New York on June 14, 1954. She was the second of what was to be four children. From birth all the way through college at the University of Buffalo she lived in the same house on 19 Southcrest Court where her parents still live today. Through her many years growing up in Tonawanda, she served as a mentor and devoted friend to all her siblings.

She came to Richmond in the 70’s to attend VCU Graduate School of Social Work. Living in a new city she knew no one in but began a wonderful life in her adopted city. After graduate school she began her career working at several places among them as a clinical social worker at Charter Westbrook Hospital and later at Insight Physicians. She also found the time to become a volunteer Doscent at the Virginia Fine Arts Museum. Linda started her life with her husband John in 1983 and later when the twins came along she transitioned to a full time mom. More recently Linda worked as a Special Education Teachers Aide at Greenfield Elementary School where she worked until the day she diagnosed with cancer.

She was an active member of St Edwards Catholic Church, and a tireless volunteer for Virginia Supportive Housing, the Richmond Food Bank and other charitable organizations.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years John Landry, their children Stephen and Mariah Landry. Her mother Rita and father Jack. Her brother John Lyons and wife Kathy, her sister Margaret and husband Mark Graytok, and her brother in law Eric Berger who was wedded to her deceased sister Mary. There are numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda was the most wonderful and loving mother, wife, and daughter. She had the most brilliant sense of humor and smile that could light up any room. Her generosity and kind heart were unmatched. She will be sorely missed.

John, it has been approx. twenty plus years since I have had contact with you & Linda. I knew right away when I saw her beautiful picture in the paper, that this was the Linda I knew. My very deepest condolences extend to you and your children. Often when I drive out to Goochland, I always remember the two of you and wonder where and how you both are. I rented the lower level efficiency at your house in Goochland when I worked for Goochland Schools. The two of you were so kind to me, and I thank you for that! My heart is so heavy with sadness with the passing of Linda! You and your children are in my thoughts and prayers.
