Evans, Lloyd Weymouth Jr., 92, of Richmond, Virginia passed away on March 2, 2018. He was born on July 18, 1925 in Larchmont, New York. He was affectionately known as “The Great Mole Evans.” Lloyd was predeceased by his mother and father, Virginia and Weymouth Evans. He attended school in New York, before moving to Norfolk, Virginia. He also attended Fork Union Military Academy and Granby High School. After high school, he continued his education at William & Mary, and also East Carolina University. He joined the Marines in July 1942. He was one of the youngest Master Sergeants during World War II. He remained proud of his service and being a Marine until the end. He worked 35 years in auto finance industry, eventually retiring from Ford Motor Credit, as a regional vehicle merchandise manager. After retiring, he found enjoyment for 16 years working at The Country Club of Virginia for the golf staff. He made so many friends, played golf, and watched out for the ladies. He also loved the dogs that would wander onto the golf course. His hobby was wood working in his shop in the original Bon Air Post Office. He made furniture and often chatted with those passing by; some of whom still thought it might be a working post office. He met Gloria in 1951 and proposed to her on their 3rd date. It was a long, enduring love that lasted 64 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished his moments with all. He loved telling jokes and playing pranks on his friends, many of whom have since passed away. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and sang in the choir. He was a layreader but was unable to attend church in his later years. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Eubank Evans; his three children, Stephanie Burnett (Gary), Scott Evans, and Allison Evans; two grandchildren, Gregory Burnett (Kimberly) and Geoffrey Burnett; three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Eliot, and Everett Burnett; one brother, Gene Evans; many nieces; a nephew; and their families.
