

FORD, Lola Ann Cowan, died June 12, 2013. Lola was born in Danville, Va. on June 29, 1923. She was the widow of Roy Collins Ford. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, William Brandon Cowan and Fannie Vaughn Cowan; and four brothers, Howard V. Cowan, W. Buron Cowan, R. Garland Cowan and C. Jay Cowan, all of Danville. Lola was a member of Mizpah Chapter #32 of Eastern Star and a former member of Chesmond Womans Club. Lola was a dedicated, loyal and loved employee at E.I. DuPont for over 30 years where she served as an executive secretary. She retired in 1985. Lola will be remembered for her steadfast loyalty, her bold independence and her generous love of family and friends. She is survived by five nephews and their families, Frank N. Cowan of Manakin-Sabot, Va., H. Vern Cowan of Danville, Michael J. Cowan of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Scott Cowan of Danville, Mason Cowan of Chatham, Va.; and her niece, Sandra Cowan Pemberton and her family of Spartanburg, S.C. A memorial service for Lola will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian.
