Lucy was preceded by her husband Donald O. Rutledge. She is survived by her sons, Mark Rutledge (Peggy) and Craig Rutledge; and her granddaughters, Shannon Gallimore (Matthew), Abigail Rutledge, Calynn Rutledge, Sydnie Rutledge and Shelby Rutledge.
Lucy graduated from Tennessee Temple College with a bachelor’s degree in music and her passion was singing for the glory of God. She served one year with her husband as missionaries in the Virgin Islands.
She was a member of Winfree Baptist Church for 42 years where she participated in the choir, Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) and served as a GA (Girls in Action) leader. She loved chocolate, working in her yard and feeding the birds.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday, September 6 at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 7 at Winfree Baptist Church, 13617 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian, VA 23113.
