

She was preceded by her parents, George and Priscilla Switzer and her brother, Stuart Switzer.
Lynda is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Perkins A. Gormus, Jr.; sons, Sean Gormus (Dawn), Mark Gormus (Slade); Matthew Gormus (Liz); former daughter-in-law, Connie Eddy; grandchildren, Kyle, Heather, Dalton (Baker), Reid (Ashley), Patrick (Chelsea), Lexi and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Faith and Owen.
Lynda was born on September 10, 1942, in Richmond and was a graduate (and a cheerleader) of the old John Marshall High School and earned a degree in art education at VCU. She worked in the Miller & Rhoads fashion department. She taught art at Providence Middle School before opening the Sit 'N Stitch needlework shop, which she ran for 10 years; She also worked for St. Joseph's Villa, the Alzheimer's Association and Circle Center.
Lynda enjoyed traveling, having been to all 50 states as well as many other countries, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She spent thousands of hours helping others, volunteering with the Chesterfield Triad, Alzheimer's Association, HOBY VA, the Chesterfield Council on Aging and the Richmond Optimist Club, among others. She was an active member at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 1, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 4836 Cascade St. N. Chesterfield, VA 23234.
Contributions in Lynda's name may be given to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
