Madeline Anette Tizard, formerly High nee Wright, 94, of Richmond, formerly of Southampton, Hampshire and Swanscombe, Kent, England joined her husband of 32 years, Derek Arthur Tizard and her parents, Ernest and Margaret Wright on August 23, 2026.
She is survived by her sister, Sheila Cosgrove, her son, Malcolm High, her stepchildren Gary Tizard (Jessie), and Jacqueline Klein (Steve); 7 grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, Matthew (Hayley), Michael (Laura), Kyle (Andrea), Casey (Derik), and Colby;14 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Madeline's love and focus was her family and friends whom she cherished. In her younger years, she was an adventurer at times, surprising many with unique challenges such as hang gliding and parasailing at Kitty Hawk. As the years went on, and when her zest for excitement tempered, she was still eager to take on new challenges such as painting and crafts. Madeline was soft-spoken, kind to everyone, and never far from a good crossword puzzle. She was a sweet, gentle lady and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Madeline was very proud of her English heritage, which we will respectfully honor by returning her ashes to England where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents.
Locally, we will have a small gathering to celebrate Madeline’s life on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 4:30 to 6:30pm at The Granite Grill, 3088 Stony Point Rd, Richmond, VA 23235.
