Mark Andrew Terry, 56, of Richmond died April 30, 2016 following a lengthy fight against cancer. He was born on September 9, 1959 in Norfolk, the son of Betty and Grayson Terry, who preceded him in death. In 1998, Mark met the love of his life, Tammy-Lynn, first online and then, four days later in Niagara Falls, Canada. They married in February 2001, and in their fifteen years of marriage, shared a passion for adventure, dogs and all things Disney. Mark was an incredibly kind man, always willing to help others, and dedicating countless hours to save rescue dogs. In addition to his beloved wife Tammy-Lynn, Mark leaves behind his sister Kathryn Lunsford, and her husband Charlie, a nephew Michael Lunsford and niece Sarah Bruce. Mark was also preceded in death by his brother Robbie Terry. Mark built many friendships throughout his life, from youth group at church, to his career at Verizon, to his dog rescue community. His huge smile and fun loving spirit will be missed by them all. Mark’s wife would like to extend her gratitude to Dr. Nilofer Azad, Dr. Nita Ahuja, and the entire staff at the Johns-Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center for believing in and fighting for Mark since 2012 when others had given up on him. Every moment since then has been a gift. Visitation will be held at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia on May 6, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and Graveside service will be at Hollywood Cemetery, 412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, Virginia on May 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mark’s memory can be made to Bald is Beautiful Rescue at PO Box 8971, Greenville, SC 29604.
