Mary Marjorie Hughes

Mary Marjorie Hughes, born October 6, 1932, died on August 13th, 2022. She is survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and other extended family. Miss Hughes was born in Charlotte County, VA and was one of six children. She graduated from Randolph Henry High School and moved to Richmond where she had a career with C&P Telephone (now Verizon). She remained close with and is survived by her oldest friend, Shirly Jennings, who grew up on an adjacent farm. Margie resided in the Summerhill community, where she enjoyed socializing with her friends, gardening, daily walks, and spending time with family, most especially her great-great nephew, Miles, age 14. Margie was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church for nearly 50 years. Services will be held there on Sunday, August 28th at 11:30am, followed by a church garden Interment and Reception at the Parish Hall.
