Terri was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1943, the oldest of seven children. From an early age, she carried a natural sense of responsibility, care, and devotion to others—qualities that remained at the heart of her life.
Terri became a nurse and, while working in the neurosurgery unit at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, she met Harold, a young neurosurgeon who would become her husband. They were married in 1966 and later moved to Richmond, Virginia, where they built their life together, raised four children, and became deeply rooted in the community they would call home for decades.
Her life was filled with devoted and loving family, as well as loyal friends who became lifelong companions. Her deep faith was a constant source of strength, comfort, and joy throughout her life.
Terri was a wonderful cook and homemaker who brought warmth and care to everything she created, including opening her home to fellow nurses and colleagues during the holidays. She also loved traveling with family and friends, especially to some of her favorite places—Jamaica, Virgin Gorda, and the Cayman Islands—where she made many happy memories with the people she loved.
Terri also knew how to enjoy life. She was fond of reminding everyone that “it’s five o’clock somewhere,” and she was always ready with a glass of Moscato to join in a happy hour—wherever and whenever one might happen.
One of Terri’s great loves was shopping, although very often it was not for herself. She delighted in buying things for her children and grandchildren and was equally generous toward those who were struggling or simply needed a little help with food, clothing, or everyday necessities.
Terri had her own philosophy about money. She liked to say that money was like manure: it did the most good when you spread it around. She also frequently pointed out that she had never seen a Brinks armored truck in a funeral procession, which, in Terri’s mind, was all the proof anyone needed that money was meant to be enjoyed, shared, and given away rather than hoarded. Saving every penny was simply never her style.
Above all, Terri was devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold; her daughters, Lisa Beth, Rachel, and Melissa; her son, Rob; and her grandchildren, Michael Jr., Thomas, Avery, Isaias, Massimo, Harrison, Logan, Mary Jane, and Eddie.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that while Terri went to sleep here on earth, she awoke in Heaven. We can only imagine that she arrived with her faith intact, her sense of humor fully present, and perhaps already wondering where the happy hour was being held. What she leaves behind are the many dear friends and family members she loved so deeply, and a lifetime of stories, laughter, generosity, and love that will continue to be shared for generations.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113.
A funeral service celebrating Terri’s life will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 10701 West Huguenot Road, West Chesterfield, VA 23113.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Terri’s memory with a donation to a charity that is meaningful to you.
Terri will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and undoubtedly toasted often.
