Millard Leslie Lemon

Millard Leslie Lemon (94) of North Chesterfield and Moseley died on January 1, 2025. He is predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 68 years, Betty (Tutu) Shay Lemon. Millard is also predeceased by his granddaughter, Haley Campbell.

He also leaves his two daughters, Diane Fisher (Tom) and Connie Campbell, together with two grandsons Matthew Fisher (Alicia) and Mark Fisher (Anne). He leaves three great-grandsons Jackson, Luke, and John. He has two siblings, Marion Nesbitt and Douglas Lemon (Jan).

His parents were Leslie (Doc) Lemon and Ruth Hammond Lemon of Roanoke, VA.

Millard attended Jefferson High School in Roanoke and received a BS degree in Building Construction from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, now Virginia Tech, in 1953. After graduation, he was employed by a building materials manufacture as a sales representative where he and his family were transferred from Roanoke to Princeton, West Virginia, then to Goldsboro, North Carolina, then to Charlotte, North Carolina.

After moving to different locations, he joined a major roofing contractor in Charlotte. In 1965, he purchased Whitley Roofing Co in Richmond, VA where they installed roofs on many commercial and industrial buildings in the area.

Millard was instrumental in forming the Virginia Association of Roofing Contractors in 1967. He also was a charter member of the Commonwealth Contractors Group Self Insurance Association where he served as Chairman from 1983 to 1997.

After retirement he became interested in genealogy. He assembled many facts about Betty's and his family and acquired over 5000 names in his database. In honor of his contribution, a room at the Franklin County Historical Society was named after him and Betty.

The family will receive friends from 11am to 12pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025 Woody Funeral Home- Huguenot Chapel, where a funeral service will follow at 12pm. Interment will take place at Dale Memorial Park at 2pm.
