Richard L. Hendricks

Hendricks, Richard Lee, 79, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2015. Richard was born to James and Martha Hendricks on September 2, 1935, in Richmond, Virginia. He was a long time member of Grove Avenue Baptist Church. He retired from the Federal Government DGSC-Bellwood in 1990 after 33 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Brooks Hendricks of 54 years and his parents and older brother James, all of Richmond. He is survived by a daughter, Shannon H. Thomas; two sons and their wives, Paul and Natalie Hendricks; Eric and Michelle Hendricks; his grandchildren Paul, Jessica, Luke, Shane, Taylor, Caleb, Landon and one great grandson Eli. Special thanks to Leonard Charles who has been like a son to both Joan and Richard. Thanks to Betty and Johnny Becker, Phil and Pat King, Neva Russell, Mildred Rose, The Carters, Dickey and Pat Snellings, Kasey, Brenda, Becky, Carol Hancock, Dr. Jennifer Brown and Associates for all the love and care given to him. We thank all relatives, friends, and church family for touching his life. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 28 at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 29 at Grove Avenue Baptist Church, 8701 Ridge Road, Richmond, Virginia. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Avenue.
