He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Read Pettway; his brother, Michael Keith Pettway; and his step-father, Lewis E. Carpenter, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Carley P. Carpenter; his brothers, Frederick Read Pettway, Jr. and John Byron Pettway; his nephew, Frederick Read Pettway, III.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Saturday, January 18 at Woody Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
