ZIEG, Richard W., of Midlothian, born April 27, 1931 in Frankfort, Indiana, died May 4, 2013. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Zieg Underwood. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marlene L. Zieg; son, R. Daniel Zieg, M.D. of Marathon, Florida Keys; daughter, Dawn Zieg Bradley of Richmond; grandchildren, Brandon J. Zieg of Milwaukee, Wis., Ryan D. Zieg of St. Louis, Mo., and Sara Bradley Harney and her husband, Matthew R. Harney, of Leesburg, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Olivia Harney. Mr. Zieg graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. where he was a member of R.O.T.C. and earned a degree in metallurgical engineering. He was a U.S.A.F veteran and a member of 689 Squadron. For over 32 years, he worked for ALCOA / Reynolds Metals Company. He was also an active leader of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church. The family would like to send a special thanks to Holly Inn (Memory Care) at Brandermill Woods for their excellent and loving care. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
