

BUSH, Dr. Robert E., age 91, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Inez Perkins Bush; five children and their spouses; Diane Gittin (Larry), Phyllis Dowdy (Don), Robert A. Bush (Holli), Barbi Partlow (Steve), Col. Jacqueline Thompson, M.D. (Randy); nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dr. Bush was a Doctor of Optometry and practiced in Richmond many years, with his first office in Southside Plaza. He loved working in the optometry field and was well loved by his patients. Also an Army WWII era veteran, Dr. Bush was proud to serve in the Signal Corps before pursuing his chosen field of work. He worked briefly at Walter Reed Army Hospital, where he had the privilege to meet President Dwight Eisenhower. A devout Christian, Dr. Bush was happy to share his faith with anyone and loved to talk about how God influenced his life and family. His humor and presence will be missed by all who know him on this earth. There will be a visitation on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel. A private burial will be at Westhampton Memorial Park. Memorial Service Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 5200 Grove Ave. in Richmond, with reception following.
