OBITUARY

Robert Durwood Kennedy

February 8, 1958 – July 6, 2026
Obituary of Robert Durwood Kennedy
IN THE CARE OF

Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Kennedy, a man whose larger-than-life personality, skilled hands, and unforgettable sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Preston Kennedy and Joan Kinton; his brother, Fred Kennedy; his former wife, Laura May Eubanks; and his beloved grandparents, Oscar and Columbia, who helped shape the man he became.

He is survived by his wife, Candace Kennedy; his daughter, Jennifer (Keith); Bobby Jr. (Angela) Jeremy (Grace); his cherished grandchildren, Aleah, Troy, and Kelli.

The relationship with our dad wasn't always easy. Like many fathers and sons, we shared moments of distance and misunderstandings. But even through those years, there were things about him we could never fail to admire. He was a man who worked hard, loved deeply in his own way, and had a gift for making people smile.

Dad was great at what he did. There seemed to be nothing he couldn't build, repair, or figure out. His craftsmanship in carpentry and siding wasn't just a job—it was an art. He took pride in it, and the homes and lives he touched stand as lasting reminders of his talent and dedication.

He had an adventurous heart that was always calling him somewhere new. Whether he was winding through the mountains of West Virginia or simply relaxing by the beach. Bob found joy in the simple beauty of the world around him. The mountains were home to his soul, and the water brought him peace.

Anyone who knew Bob knew he was the life of the party. He could tell a story that had everyone laughing until their sides hurt, and he had a way of making strangers feel like old friends. His laughter was contagious, his personality unforgettable, and his presence impossible to ignore. As we say goodbye, we choose to remember the good, the lessons he taught through his work ethic, the laughter he shared so freely, and the strength he showed throughout his life. While we may not have always walked the same path, we will always be grateful for the parts of him that live on in all of us.

Rest easy, Dad. May you find endless mountain views, calm waters, and perfect days with a fishing pole in hand. You will be remembered with love, missed beyond words, and carried forever in the hearts of those whose lives you touched.
