

Roger Morton Scott, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday August 4, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Henry Lampson Scott and Helen Sanders Scott, his sister Helen “Ducky” Scott and his grandson Samuel Scott duPont. He is survived by his beloved wife Martha Utterback Scott (66 years). His Brother in Law Allen Utterback (Valerie). His son Christopher Allen (Maria) and daughters Catherine Scott Adkins (Tommy), and Anne Scott duPont. His five Grandchildren Philip Evertt duPont, Meredith Adkins Frazier (Hampton), Caroline Scott Adkins McDaniel (Nathan), Thomas Eggleston Adkins III and Rodrigo Andres Scott. Two Great Grandsons Hampton Boyd Frazier, Jr. and Ashton Thomas Frazier.
Roger was born January 8, 1934 in Walker, Minnesota where his Father operated a Fox Farm. He was a Loyal brother to his sister Ducky who had Cerebral Palsy. In 1941, his family moved to Louisville, Ky. where he graduated from Male High School and later went to the University of Kentucky during the famous Adolph Rupp Basketball era. Roger became an avid Wildcat Fan forever! He was a member of Delta Tau Delta where he formed lasting friendships. He graduated in 1956 with a degree in Economics and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserve, and most importantly met the love of his life Martha, who graduated the same year.
He began his Professional career with Reynolds Metals Company as a Sales Trainee in Louisville, KY in 1956. That same year, he made one of the best decisions of his life when he married Martha. They moved to Richmond only to be sent in 1959 to Los Angeles where he began a highly successful Sales Career. There, he was a significant contributor to maintaining and expanding Reynolds Metals Interface with the Aerospace Industry. In 1970, they returned to Richmond where he was a Market Manager in The Mill Products Division and then was transferred to The Building Products Division in 1976. He retired as General Manager after 35 years of distinguished service. Upon retirement from Reynolds, in 1991, in Partnership with GE Capital, he became the President & CEO of Amerimark in Raleigh, NC. In addition, also in partnership with GE Capital, he was Chairman of World Source.
Roger was a dedicated member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church serving on the Vestry, Senior Warden and the Endowment Committee. Roger was a wonderful Brother, Husband, Father, Father-in Law, Grandfather and even Great Grandfather. He was affectionately called PAPA and especially proud of their many accomplishments. He was a friend to all he met and later in life used a “thumbs up” to express his kindness. He truly lived a full and active life. He was a good man, and will be forever missed. Above all, he was a Christian man of Great Faith who believed that, "The steps of a Good Man are ordered by the LORD" Psalm 37.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August, 15th 2024 at 1pm est at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church 2040 McRae Rd. Bon Air, VA. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
