

Sylvia was born and raised in Richmond, VA, where she attended Maggie L. Walker High School. She studied Early Childhood Education at Virginia Union University and spent her entire career dedicated to advancing the education of children with the Richmond Public Schools System.
Her happiest times were spent with her family. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, going to plays and musicals, and playing board games, especially Candyland with Taniah. Sylvia spent endless hours watching old Westerns and classic sitcoms.
She was known for her brilliant smile, boisterous laugh, and resilient spirit. Her wit, intelligence, and passion for music was well known. Especially her lifelong crush on Teddy Pendergrass and obsession with the song “Careless Whisper” by George Michael.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Tyrone A. Boisseau; parents, Alizzlee Kenner House and Thomas House, Sr.; grandson, Erik A. Darden; sisters, Mildred L. Wilderson (Hugh, Sr.), Alizzlee T. Banks, and Joanna Baskerville.
She is survived by her children Erika A Darden, LaToya T. Green (Stacy), Chequana T. Boisseau, Javon K. Boisseau, Jaron K. Boisseau; grandchildren, Xavier Darden, Jr., Quiana A. Darden, Carlton L. Green, Taniah A. Boisseau, Keon J. Boisseau, and Nylani K. Boisseau-White; great-grandchildren, Ava M. Darden, Xola J. Darden, and Xion M. Darden; brother, Thomas House, Jr. (Rita), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
