Born in Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Tangel. She left Czechoslovakia during World War II at 16 years old and made her way through war torn Europe to the United States four years later. She studied English at nights, while working in New York City and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1954. She was a Hairstylist for 40 years and enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, cooking and loved to bowl. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Mark Hood & Cheryl Bodie (wife), grandson, James Raleigh Hood & Lindsey Currie (wife), granddaughter, Andrea Hood, and great grandson Maxwell Hood. She was predeceased by her husband, George O. Hood.
The funeral service will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9400 Redbridge Road, Richmond, VA 23236 on Saturday, October 20th at 10 a.m. with interment at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
