

Tim was born on April 10, 1987, in Richmond, Virginia where his leadership, humor, mentorship and the love for the outdoors grew. He loved fishing, hunting and crafting. When Tim was not tending to his duties as a soldier, he enjoyed expressing one of his many talents showcasing his extreme creativity and detailing ability to make beautiful wooden flags that are displayed in many homes today. Additionally, he enjoyed making time for and creating everlasting memories with his family.
Tim was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and relocated there for the remaining of his Military Service, providing the utmost service in mentoring and supporting his fellow soldiers. Tim was an expert on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, which is designed to transport scouts with armor protection, while providing covering fire to suppress enemy troops. His training led to help other fellowmen to pursue a life of service in the Military. Tim was an extraordinary service member who also became a Bradley Master Gunner, a title and category that is difficult to acquire.
Furthermore, Timothy proudly served his country for 13 years in the United States Army as a Cavalry Scout and 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team. Tim was literally the face of the US Army! He was a dedicated servant to his nation, deeply valued by his fellow soldiers, and carried a strong love and devotion for his family throughout his life. Those who knew him best, remember a man who was loving, deeply supportive and humorous. Tim left his mark as SFC on his leadership, friendships and what most around him would state, a clear definition of a phenomenal NCO! Tim always led by example with passion, wisdom, tough love, and a contagious smile that would light up any place. All traits that any leader should stive for!
Tim was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Wheeler, and his mother, Patricia Gay.
Tim is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Crystal Smith-Reid; children, Emmalyn, Landon, Makaila and Isaiah; father, Donald Reid (Sharon); brother, Donald Reid Jr. (Devron); brother, Kevin Wheeler.
Tim is further survived by step brother Chad Martin (Heather); step brother Nathan Martin (Kala); step brother Nicholas Shelton; step brother, Perry Shelton (Ashley); step brother, Jeff Shelton (Stephanie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Timothy will be remembered for his loyalty, strength, sense of duty, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His presence, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to both his country and family will never be forgotten.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him!
