

GAY, Walter Ross, 75 of Midlothian, Va., passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ludlow Gay and mother, Mary Yuhas Gay of Wendell, N.C. He is survived by Willie, his wife of 55 years; his daughter, Leigh Anne Schuler and son-in-law, Michael Schuler; his daughter, Ginger Sluder and son-in-law, Jeffrey Sluder; and grandchildren Jason Ross Sluder and Helen Carol Sluder. He is also survived by his sisters, Josephine Evans of Holly Springs, N.C. and Veronica Burnish of Southport, N.C.; and his brother-in-law, Charles Johnson, of Clayton, N.C. Ross attended the University of North Carolina and was a member of the National Guard for 8 years. He worked for Mead Westvaco for 35 years in Sales and Management. Having grown up on a farm, he had a great love of gardening, enjoyed the game of golf, and the fellowship of playing bridge. But most of all, his witty sense of humor, and love of music, family and friends will leave behind many treasured memories. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday June 1, at Salisbury Presbyterian Church at 13621 W. Salisbury Rd., Midlothian, Va. A reception will follow at the church.
