Keith’s legacy will live on through so many loved ones he’s left behind. He was a devoted and loving husband to Carol for 44 wonderful years and a deeply cherished father to Heather (Tommy) and Michael (Lindsay). He was the proudest and most devoted Pawpaw to Peyton, Braxton, Landon, Caeden, and Riley, who were truly the light of his life. Keith also leaves behind his brothers, Jerry (Lee) and Kenny (Sherry), along with many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whom he loved deeply.
Keith dedicated 37 years of service to Dominion Virginia Power, where he worked in many different roles throughout his career. While he took great pride in his work, his true passion was giving back to his community. For many years, Keith served on the Board of Directors for the Reams Athletic Association and coached Heather’s softball teams and Michael’s football teams, leading countless teams to championships over the years. More importantly, Coach Trainum made a lasting impact on the lives of so many children and families in the community. He often reminisced about the memories, friendships, and joy those years of coaching brought him.
Wherever his grandchildren were, Keith was there-whether at a ball field, hunt club, fishing pier, skating rink, basketball court, swimming pool, school performance, or gymnastics studio. Keith and Carol traveled near and far to support their grandchildren in every activity and milestone. He was always the loudest cheerleader in the crowd and made a point to know every player on the team so he could cheer for everyone by name.
Keith never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He genuinely loved people, loved hearing their stories, and loved making others feel welcome. He found immense joy in being surrounded by family and friends and never missed an opportunity to tell those he loved exactly how much they meant to him. One of his favorite things to say was, “Have I told you today how much I love you?”
Keith lived life loudly-both figuratively and literally. He loved deeply, cared fiercely, and leaves behind a presence that simply cannot be replaced. Those fortunate enough to know and love Keith Trainum were truly blessed by his life, his kindness, and his unwavering love for others. Sixty-eight years will never feel like enough time with someone so special.
